"All the world's a stage, And all the men and women merely players; They have their exits and their entrances; And one man in his time plays many parts, ..." - William Shakespeare

The Sacred Art of Storytelling

Storytelling is an ancient and sacred art form. Ever since there has been human speech there have been stories. Perhaps even before that, stories were perhaps mimed. Myths and fables have been told by word of mouth and retold, generation after generation, long before there was writing. The tradition of oral storytelling is rich and ancient. Native Americans traditionally had no written language, so the oral tradition of storytelling was essential to the preservation of culture.

All ancient societies told stories. Ancient Greek stories were written down and we can read them today. Such plays, fables, and myths include: Aesop's Fables, the epic poems of The Iliad and the Odyssey, and the political comedy Lysistrata.

When we dream, we dream stories. The symbols in stories are powerful metaphors for our daily lives. Our beliefs about the nature of reality itself are based upon stories we have been told and stories we tell ourselves. There are the "official" stories that the government tells us. There are the religious stories that the churches, synagogues, and mosques tell us. When we tell our personal story to others we re-experience our lives in a new and different way. When we access our unconscious stories through guided meditation and dreams we may learn something new and different about ourselves.

Books and movies are also doorways to expanded understanding, giving us new ways to view the world and experience our own stories. Do you have a favorite story, book, or movie? Feel free to email me the title of your favorite book, movie, or story.

What is your story? What is the story you have been told about the true nature of the world? What is the narrative of your journey through life? What is the meaning of your life? What stories inspire you in your life's journey?

When we awaken our love energy, we may re-experience the world in a new way and we may even revise the story we have been told. Having a safe and supportive person to tell your story to is often very helpful to gaining new insights in life. As a guide to Love Energy Technique and Creative Liberation, I provide you with a safe space, a field of love energy, a bubble of love, where you may be more fully yourself, more expressive, more creative, more energized, and more self-empowered. BUDDHA
by Osamu Tezuka

A Book Review by Deerheart

A gripping epic adventure biography, a relentless page-turner, Buddha is Tezuka's crowning achievement, his supreme masterpiece. Best known for his incredible fantasy adventure series, Astro Boy, Osamu Tezuka (1928-1989) is the father of Japanese Manga Comics. The first English hardcover edition of Buddha was published in 2003. The English paperback edition came out in 2006. This amazing 8 volume series is truly inspiring. It brings to mind the lives of Gandhi and Jesus in expressing the power of love, compassion, and nonviolent action.

Amazingly, his exquisite artwork ranges from Disney-like characters to a style more reminiscent of traditional Chinese landscape paintings, with vast vistas and ornate stone-carved architecture. The graphic novel panels keep the reader on the edge of the seat, with many unexpected twists and turns of the plot.

It follows the life of Siddhartha (the Buddha) and the many people he influences and who influence him. It takes place in India, 400 to 500 years before the birth of Christ, at a time and a place when the caste system was strictly enforced, with privileged wealthy royalty and religious elite on one end and persecuted naked slaves and thieves on the other. The books masterfully combine romance, adventure, humor, philosophy, mysticism, and wisdom. It is an unflinching, uncensored look at the ugliness and the beauty of life, the sufferings and the joys of life, from tragedy to ecstasy, it is all here in this grand and sweeping tale with a cast of hundreds. Tezuka has succeeded in creating one of the most inspiring works I have ever experienced.

The entire 8 volume hardcover set of Buddha may be purchased through the slideshow below. The paperback version of the set is available through our Love Energy Bookstore.
